Hello Friends!

We are your hosts at Haus Patricia,

welcome!

Melinda from Hungary

From Budapest, Hungary, Melinda has always been a big fan of Austria and Germany - from an early age she learned skiing on Austrian slopes, learned German at school, even spent 2 semesters in Germany during her university years. Being outdoors has been a passion for the last 20 years: hiking, cycling, snowboarding, and recently, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and Ski Touring. Even though she earned a degree in economics and worked at a bank in Budapest before relocating to Austria, here she really feels like she arrived at home in the small village of Lofer.

Hospitality is not something she learned, but she immerses herself in it with heart and soul. She is the "Front" of the business, keeping in touch with the guests. She has several "hats" during the day, first she wears the "Breakfast" hat, then the "Cleaning lady" hat, and in the afternoon the "Receptionist".

In her spare time, she likes to bake cakes, and make jams and sirups for the guests.

Kevin from USA

As a child Kevin's Family lived in several places, as his Texan father was in the military. Kevin has lived in Europe for the past 30 years and worked for corporations before coming to Austria. He loves that his work is now not bound to a desk but involves lots of exercise being the "Hausmeister" and "Gardener" of Haus Patricia. Like a good "minion", he also takes part in the daily chores in the house, like preparing breakfast and cleaning the rooms. He is the "silent worker in the background" -- he is still learning German.

In his spare time, he likes to work in his "work shop" performing maintenance and making improvements to the house, and building furniture.

You are wondering...

how did an American and a Hungarian end up running a BnB in the Austrian Alps?!

We met in Hungary, and together our hobby has always been outdoor sports. Together we began coming to Austria a few times for skiing, then for hiking and cycling, too. We just fell in love with this beautiful country, the mountains, the friendliness of the people - everything. It soon became a passion - we spent all our holidays in Austria. Then this passion became a dream, and soon turned into a goal: we would love to run a small B&B in the Alps and return the hospitality and passion for the mountains to our own guests, just like we received it as guests before.

We found Haus Patricia and decided to take the plunge to trade our office jobs to running this cosy little B&B in the wonderful village of Lofer. We took over at the end of 2014 and we haven't regretted it.

Just the two of us run the B&B, which means welcoming and looking after the guests in person and online, preparing breakfast, doing the daily chores and cleaning, shopping and all the upkeeping ourselves. It is a lot of work, but we love it! :) And when we have time, we still enjoy the beauties of our region, discover places so we can tell our guests, or try new sports like cross-country skiing.

We are always thinking of ways how we could improve our services and make our guests' experience better.
